Some of Our Just One Day 2024 Projects
Orris Lamb Rd, Dallas Plantation
This project provided a new two car garage along with the construction of a covered exterior rampway from the home to the garage. Additionally, there were interior modifications made to the home which included the installation of an elevator (funded by the Masons) allowing the wheelchair bound homeowner much easier and safer access to his vehicle, especially in the treacherous winter months with snow and ice present
Mabel Hill Rd, Rangeley
This project accomplished exterior sprucing up of this homeowner’s property. Debris was removed and extensive pruning and landscaping were performed around the property providing safer ingress and egress for the property owner. Fencing and overgrown shrubbery were removed. A lawn area was excavated and installed.
Some of our Just One Day 2023 Projects
10 Oquossoc Ave, Rangeley
Begun in 2023, this multi-year project involved the complete demolition of an unsafe garage and construction of a new, smaller structure in its place. Extensive groundwork was involved as well as skilled rough and finish carpentry. Basement flooding had occurred and SFCF volunteers pumped it out and cleaned out all of the damaged property. In 2024, the project was completed when exterior trim was painted and a portion of the home’s roof was repainted. The results are amazing!
17 Oquossoc Ave, Rangeley
This is another multi year project. The siding, insulation and electrical service for the home was done in 2022 and then a new roof was installed in 2023.
7 Oquossoc Ave. Rangeley
This extensive project involved the removal of rotted siding and porch ceiling material as well as repairing the metal roof leaks. New vinyl siding was installed. The final step to this multi year project occurred in 2025 when the covered porch roof was repaired, sealed and painted and the damaged porch ceiling was replaced and painted.
2022 Projects
Rangeley
Remodeling inside and out. New flooring, some electrical, and general sprucing up inside. New septic system was installed and extensive landscaping (including removal of a very large oak tree) was done to reclaim beautiful flower beds and open up space near the home. Primed and stained garage and home. New parking area and driveway were also installed. Because of the expense and extent of the work, this was a multi-year project and started in 2022 and ended in 2023.

Featured Volunteers
On the third Wednesday of July, artisans, businesses, and others across the area volunteer one day of their time to assist with the renovations being done to the selected properties. This volunteer event is known as Just One Day (J1D).
Each year approximately 75 people donate up to 8 hours of their time laboring over various aspects of the projects. We couldn’t do it without them!

Words from our previous beneficiaries.
“… My heartfelt thanks go out to Craig’s insurance agent volunteers from the area and the people who provided time labor and supplies much appreciated!!”
“… I am grateful the people in the community gave up their own work and time to help their neighbor.
I would have been in serious hardship without them. I wish every community had this for people in need.”
“… This process was effortless on my part, I can never repay the generosity of the volunteers that made this happen, but I will be sure to volunteer myself on their next project.
I will forever be grateful for the Sargent Family and the “Just One Day” organization for removing my worry and stress and saving me from financial ruin or worse, it changed my life forever. It still feels like a dream.”
“…My life is forever changed and I cannot thank everyone enough for their donations, time and kindness.
When I am asked in the future, ‘do you believe in angels?’, I will respond ‘Yes’, they most definitely reside in Rangeley and beyond.”
